General Information &

Conditions of Play

 

EVENTS – GENERAL INFORMATION

 

1.         The Controlling Body for all games shall be the DDLBA.  Authority to adjudicate and settle disputes may be delegated to the Umpire of the Day and two Members of the DDLBA. – as the appointed Controlling Body for that event.  Any Member, playing in an event, shall not be appointed to the Controlling Body for that Event. 

  1. The DDLBA Match Committee shall be responsible for the running of the event.  Chairperson of the Match Committee (or her delegate) has the power, after consultation with the Controlling Body, to act in any emergency.

3.         Championship Events & Open Events:

Match Committee, after consultation with the Controlling Body, has the power to alter or amend the programme if deemed necessary or appropriate if the weather or other conditions are unsuitable.

  1. Nomination Fees: as set by the Council

Nomination fees shall accompany nominations to DDLBA Secretary by 12 noon on the designated closing date.  Actual names of players required when nominating. NO refunds after closing date. These Nominations must be received officially through the Club Secretary and must be on the official nomination form.

  1. Green Fees: as set by the Council

            Players/Teams withdrawing or forfeiting after the draw has been completed must forward green fees to the host club.

  1. Nominations received for all games to be published in The Chronicle, if possible.
  2. Umpires, Measurers and Markers lunches will be paid for by DDLBA
  3. Play dates, closing date for nominations and venues as per the DDLBA Calendar
  4. Venue club to organise an Umpire.

PRESTIGE OPEN LADIES FOURS

 

  1. All players must be financial members of a Bowling Club and capitated with BQ.  Composite teams allowed.
  2. First 28 teams accepted.
  3. The competition shall be played under the “Laws of the Sport of Bowls” relevant at the time and Domestic Regulations for Australia – and DDLBA Special Conditions.
  4. Play:    Three (3) games of thirteen (13) ends:                                   

The time frame being as follows:

                        First Game       9:00am -11:00am

                        Lunch              11:00 – 11:30am

                        Second Game   11:30am – 1:30pm

Third Game      1:45pm – 3:45pm        

  1. Scoring:           Winners                                    Most wins plus highest score

Runners-Up                               Most wins next highest score

Round 1                                    1 for end & 4 for win

Round 2                                    Win & Highest margin

Round 3                                   Lowest Winning Score

No team can win more than one trophy

  1. No trial ends    

 

DDLBA LADIES VETERAN FOURS

 

Conditions of Entry & Play to be read in conjunction with the DDLBA Events – General Information

  1. All games played under the “Laws of the Sport of Bowls” relevant at the time and Domestic Regulations and DDLBA special conditions.
  2. Entrants must be affiliated members of the DDLBA.
  3. Teams to consist of players aged 70 years or over.
  4. Composite teams are permitted
  5.     Substitutes/Replacements –permission is required and refer age qualifications paragraph 3
  6. Fours: 2 games of 16 ends.           Play to commence 9.30am
  7. Scoring:           Winners – Most wins and highest score over both games

Runner-Up – Most wins with the next highest score

Round 1 & Round 2

  1. No team to win more than 1 trophy

 

MAJORS & MINORS PAIRS (GOLD CUP TROPHY)

 

  1. All players must be financial members of a Bowling Club and capitated with BQ. 

Composite teams allowed.

2.         Minor consists of a player who hasn’t won a Championship event, that is, Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours.

  1. First 28 teams accepted.
  2. The competition shall be played under the “Laws of the Sport of Bowls” relevant at the time and Domestic Regulations for Australia – and DDLBA Special Conditions.
  3. Play:    Three (3) games of thirteen (13) ends:                           

The time frame being as follows:

                        First Game       9:00am -11:00am

                        Lunch              11:00 – 11:30am

                        Second Game   11:30am – 1:30pm

Third Game      1:45pm – 3:45pm        

  1. Scoring:           Winners                                    Most wins plus highest score

DDLBA LADIES NOVICE SINGLES

 

Condition of Entry & Play to be read in conjunction with the DDLBA Events -General Information

  1. All games played under the “Laws of the Sport of Bowls” relevant at the time and Domestic Regulations and DDLBA special conditions
  2. Entrants must be affiliated members of the DDLBA and open to all members but must have been playing bowls for no more than three (3) years at the time of close of nominations irrespective of any other events she has won.
  3. Previous winner/s may enter providing she meets the conditions of Clause 2.
  4. Singles: 25 shots up.  KNOCKOUT, each playing four bowls singly and in turn of a set. Two games per day.
  5. Play to commence 9.30am morning play and 1.00pm afternoon play

 

DDLBA LADIES CHAMPIONSHIP – SINGLES, PAIRS, TRIPLES & FOURS

 

Conditions of Entry & Play to be read in conjunction with DDLBA Events – General Information

  1. All games played under the “Laws of the Sport of Bowls” relevant at the time and Domestic Regulations and DDLBA Special Conditions
  2. Entrants must be affiliated members of the DDLBA and declared members of a club within the DDLBA
  3. Composite teams are permitted
  4. Play to commence at 9.30am morning play and 1.00pm afternoon play.

            Trial Ends –Practice – as per the “Laws of the Sport of Bowls”

            Trial Ends shall be under the control of the Match Committee

            Byes are taken at the discretion of the Match Committee

  1. Eligible Substitutes are permitted for Pairs, Triples or Fours

            Eligible Replacement Players will be allowed for valid reasons except in Singles

            Permission is required by the Controlling Body

 

SINGLES

25 shots up, KNOCKOUT, each player playing four (4) bowls singly and in turn of a set.

Two (2) games per day; Three (3) games per day may be played after consultation with the players

PAIRS

18 ends (June/July/August), 21 ends all other times. KNOCKOUT, played between two teams of two players each playing four bowls, played two and two singly and in turn off a set. Two (2) games per day

 

TRIPLES:

25 ends, KNOCKOUT, played between 2 teams of three players each playing two bowls singly and in turn of a set.  Two (2) games per day.

 

FOURS

21 ends, KNOCKOUT, played between two teams of four players each playing two bowls singly and in turn of a set. Two (2) games per day

 

DDLBA LADIES CHAMPION OF CLUB CHAMPIONS

Conditions of Entry & Play to be read in conjunction with DDLBA Events – General Information

It is a Condition of entry for this Event that players are familiar with and accept the Conditions of Play.

All games played under the “Laws of the sport of Bowls” relevant at the time and BA Domestic Regulations, DDLBA Special Conditions and BQ State Champion of Club Champion General Information and Mandatory Rules

 

NOMINATION/FEES

Fees of $15 per player per event to be forwarded with notification of Club Champion/s (winners/s cards included) to the DDLBA Secretary by the designated closing date.  The DDLBA will reimburse the Club the Fees

           

DRAW

Players must be present by 8:45am on the first day of play for roll call.  Match Committee shall conduct an open draw after roll call.

Games to be played as a KNOCKOUT (eliminating competition)

 

ELIGIBILITY FOR CHAMPION OF CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS PLAYOFFS –as per BQ Mandatory Rules & Conditions of Entry

  1. The Competition will commence at Club level.
  2. Members of Clubs affiliated within the District shall be eligible to play.

Note: This means that all members of a team must belong to the same Club.

  1. The Competitions are restricted to the player/s who won the current year’s Club Championship Events.  If a club fails to complete its current year’s Club Championship events by the date set down for the commencement of its Champion of Club Champion’s Group play-offs, then that Club is ineligible to compete in that particular category in that year’s Champion of Club Champion’s Event.
  2. No Member can represent more than one Club in any one year.  In the event of a Member so playing, they and the Club for which they play will be disqualified.  Prior to the commencement of the Event at Club level, dual members are to declare to their District for the Club they are representing.
  3. Players under suspension or expulsion are ineligible to play.

 

TRANSFERS

  1. Where a Member transfers to another Club/District they are only eligible to represent that Club/District if they have not participated in competition leading to Champion of Club Champion’s qualifications in their previous Club.
  2. If a Member has won a championship in the current season in a Club and decides to transfer to another Club in the same District, then, provided they retain membership of the first Club, they are eligible to play in the Champion of Club Champion’s Event/s if applicable.  However, if they resign from their Championship club, then they forfeit their right to participate.
  3. If a Member has won a Championship in the current season in a District and decides to transfer to another District, then, provided they retain membership of the first District, they are eligible to play in the Champion of Club Champion’s Event/s if applicable.  However, if they resign from their Championship district, then they forfeit their right to participate.

 

TRIAL ENDS

Trial ends shall be under the control of the DDLBA Match Committee. 

 

PRACTICE

If a player or team has not yet played is due to meet a player or team that has already played on the same day or a player or team has a bye in any round, that player or team can practice

 

PLAY

Play to commence 9:30am each day for Pairs & Fours and 9:15am for Singles.

 

DURATION OF PLAY

  1. Singles games shall be twenty-five (25) shots up and if possible three (3) games played per day with the direction of play remaining unchanged throughout the day, where possible.
  2. Four bowl Pairs (each player playing 2 bowls x 2 singly and in turn) and Fours shall play twenty-one (21) ends. 
  3. Two (2) games per day.

 

INCOMPLETE GAME/COMPETITION

  1. All games are to be completed.
  2. In extenuating circumstances if a team game is not completed then sixteen (16) ends shall constitute a game in Finals.
  3. For Singles, twenty-one (21) shots up will constitute a game in Finals.

(Note: Any end not completed when the bell is rung to cease play due to inclement or hazardous weather, SHALL NOT be completed but should be declared dead.  However, if all bowls in the end have been played, then the number of shots scored should be decided before the game stops)

 

SCORING

  1. The team/player scoring the highest number of shots when the number of ends has been completed shall be the winner.
  2. If equality exists after the number of ends have been completed an extra end/ends shall be played

 

PLAYER MOVEMENTS DURING PLAY

Note:  Players will only be allowed to walk up to the head as follows:

  1. The Leads and Seconds: after both the Seconds have delivered their second bowl
  2. The Thirds: after both Thirds have delivered their second bowl
  3. The Skips: May go to the head after either Skip’s first bowl. Restricting the movement of players does not prohibit a player being called to the head by the Skip; however care should be taken not to delay play
  4. Delaying Play:  No player, excluding Skips, is permitted to remain at the head whilst their opposite number is delivering their bowl.  Any skip that remains at the head shall stand behind the last bowl of the head or retire to the bank.  Skips who remain at the head will return to the mat immediately their opponent’s bowl has come to rest. 
  5. If the umpire, either by their own observation or on appeal from one of the skips or the opponents in Singles, decides that a player is playing in an unsportsmanlike manner by deliberately delaying play:

On the first occasion the umpire will warn the player.  If the player commits the same offence a second time the end will be regarded as completed and the opponents will score as many shots as there are bowls in use by such opponent and if the player offends the third time the game will be forfeited to the opponent.

 

POSITION OF PLAYERS WHEN NOT PLAYING

  1. Players at the mat end not delivering a bowl should stand a minimum of one (1) metre behind the mat.
  2. Players at the head end not controlling the head should stand a minimum of two (2) metres behind the head, or on the surrounds of the green if the jack is in the ditch, or well clear of the head if it is not possible to stand on the surrounds.
  3. At the start of each end only the Skip or Deputy will be at the head.

 

SUBSTITUTES/REPLACEMENT PLAYERS

Eligible substitutes are permitted throughout the Competition. i.e. no player shall be allowed to act as a substitute if she has participated in the relevant discipline in her club competition

Note:  The Controlling Body and BQ must be advised by the District, in writing, giving a valid reason, the name of the substitute, the playing position and who the player is substituting for in each and every circumstance.  Substitutes/Replacement players in singles are not permitted under any circumstances.

No substitutes will be allowed for ineligible players i.e.: those not declared for the same club.

 

DISQUALIFICATION

Should there be a Challenge to Bowls a player may play with another set of legal bowls until the

result is known

If a team or player is disqualified for any reason, the team or player LAST DEFEATED by the

disqualified team or player shall take their place.

 

ARTIFICIAL DEVICES

“Any player using an Artificial Device for the delivery of a bowl in a State Event shall have available for perusal at all times during the course of the event, by an umpire or other accredited official, either a card or some other official documentary proof issued by Bowls Queensland of their right to use such an Artificial Device.”

The penalty for the player not producing the required document is that the player cannot use the device.  If the player chooses not to play then she may be allowed an eligible substitute in a team game.

 

COACHING DURING PLAY

Players, who intend to receive coaching during a game, must inform the respective Match Committee and Umpire of the Coach’s name as soon as practicable prior to the match commencing but not less than 30 minutes prior to the match start time and the Coach cannot be changed for each match.  Any person who is nominated as a Coach or Manager shall strictly adhere to the conditions of Law 44.  There shall be only one Coach per team.

Please note: Any person wishing to coach in this event must hold BA coaching accreditation and must show it when registering.

 

ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION DEVICES

All electronic communication devices located within six (6) metres of the green whilst a game is in progress SHALL BE SWITCHED OFF.  These include mobile phones, pagers, transistor radios etc.  Special dispensation may be given to “on call” emergency personnel by the Controlling Body after consultation.

 

SOCIAL MEDIA

To assist in ensuring that interactions between players and officials are harmonious the following will be included in the Conditions of Play as permitted by Appendix A 1.4 15 Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures.

(a)    “No player shall use Social Media to make derogatory comments about Bowls Queensland and DDLBA, an official, the event or any other player for the duration of the competition.  Any infringement of this condition shall render the offender liable to disqualification from the event”.

 

LIGHTS

Games may be played or completed under lights if required.

 

ATTIRE

  1. Attire will be as per Bowls Queensland By-laws
  2. All attire must have BA logo as outlined in the BA Nation logo policy.
  3. Each player in a team and the coach must be similarly attired.  (Approved Club Uniform)
  4. Markers and Umpires shall be attired according to the requirements set down for players

 

DDLBA LADIES CHAMPION OF CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP TRIPLES

 

The same Conditions of Play & Entry as per Champion of Club Champion Pairs & Fours SHALL APPLY FOR THE CHAMPION OF CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP TRIPLES

  1. Twenty-five (25) ends played between two teams of three players each playing two bowls singly and in turn of a set.
  2. Games to be played as a KNOCKOUT competition
